As you can see from our storyboards, you will notice that we have many creative ideas that signify the genre of rock, whilst consisting of symbolism that interprets the storyline via the use of micro elements (Camera angles, movement, composition, Editing, Sound and most importantly mise-en-scene). For this reason, our music video exceeded the time limit of three minutes. However, when analysing actual music videos within the music industry, we were well aware that the original song consists of a time of around five to six minutes long, which is similar to the length of our music video, although, when featuring the song on TV, music programmes such as MTV, only have a shortened version of the song in order to show a range of music. As we didn't want our ideas and footage to go to waste, we decided to do two music videos consisting of the same footage, where we have the original music video and a separate, shortened version. Below is the shortened music video without the old footage effect that we have used to show when the artist is present within the shot, this enhances her non-earthly presence as she reacts with the camera. When watching the music video without this effect, you are not able to gain that dominance presented by the artist as she is supernatural, which is understood via this special effect.
Music video without the old footage effect:
We then developed this by adding the old footage effect and using better transitions (the eye used as a transition), whilst rearranging the clips and general footage.
Shortened music video with the effect:
Original music video (longer version):
This is the way in which I edited the music video:
When going through my construction, you will realise that I have incorporated many effects which happen to keep the target audience engaged, however, I have not taken it to extremities as it will take away the seriousness of the narrative that elaborates on death.
As many people generally have deleted scenes, we did not have any as we included all of our surplus ideas through the extended (original) music video. Due to this, we didn't find any extra footage, however, we did when it came to the lip syncing as we wanted to ensure that we had enough when editing, so I decided to show you some of the footage that we had gained but didn't incorporate as we felt that they weren't as strong in comparison to the footage within the actual music video.
